PLAYING THE GAME

   FINALLY. :)

My favorite police show, since HILL STREET
BLUES, has returned.  The above pic of the
lead actress, Missy Peregrym, is from a 2010
copy of HELLO Magazine [Canadian Edition]

The writers still have control of the show's
mix of realism & drama.  Drama is a condi-
ment, like salt and pepper.  Without it, you've
  just got a documentary wannabe.

                           ********

Only ONCE did I feel cheated. :)  After the
crisis of this episode's story was over, Andy
could not wait to thank Sam for saving the
day, and her life [and Nick's, too - the two of
them coming close to being executed by
drug dealers, who had finally smelled two
  undercover cops! :)  ]

But, of course, this pleasant scene in the
precinct's kitchen was not to be, since Andy
discovers Sam & his NEW girlfriend, another
  rookie.

I've got to trust the writers - and, I do.  BUT,
I would've liked the scene to play out as
  follows:

The article in HELLO magazine informs us that
Missy Peregrym is a passionate soccer player.
I'm sure that many ROOKIE BLUE fans have
learned this fact, one way or another.  So, it's
safe to say that Missy is a very competitive
  person.

And, what does Missy do when faced with a
player on an opposing team who's just as
fierce a player as her?  Does Peregrym walk
off the field, dejected?  I don't think so.:)

Rather, she sees the competition as...an
  intriguing challenge.  THERE'S NOTHING
QUITE LIKE A CLOSE GAME. :)
  __________

I would've like to see Andy discreetly back
out of the kitchen, as soon as she discovered
Sam and girlfriend lost in embrace.  Go back
to her locker and change out of those clothes
that she's been wearing while undercover, and
freshen up a bit.  In other words, put her
  GAME FACE on.:)

And then, after NEW GIRLFRIEND leaves the
precinct kitchen, Andy strolls in and thanks
Sam for, essentially, saving her life.  [Never
letting on what she's just seen;  never showing
  how much she's hurting]

This scene would be a complex acting
challenge, for sure.  But Missy would be up
to it.  She's come a long way from the teen-
ager who couldn't stop laughing during her
  first photo shoot.

  1. Hi Dan!

Love the new blog!!! You've been busy!!!

As much as I agree that it would've been neat for Andy to return and thank Sam, do you think she could've pulled it off? Maybe that isn't in her character. Maybe her eyes would've given her pain away. It's so easy to put all of this "cool n aloof" stuff on paper but playing games is really hard for a normal person. The face to face stuff is hard to fake. Again, the eyes give it away...
The scene that was written seems more realistic to me--heart wrenching but believable.

    Again...looking forward to more posts.

    Anyway,

Nice to hear from you, again, ON A BLOG
    OF MINE.

Good points. I guess I m thinking of the
contradictions that we all are guilty of,
sometimes. For e.g., there have been times
when I have been extremely offended, but
    I was apparently upbeat.

Like when a veteran employee of a flower shop
I was driving for, announced - as he got into
the van - that he was riding along to see why
    my deliveries took so long!

I m sure that he could sense my true feelings,
and - in my Rookie Blue suggestion - I think
that SAM should sense ANDY S turmoil - as per
    your comment.

  3. What did you think of last night's episode?

I saw flashes of true emotion before the "mask" came on--for both Sam and Andy!

    :)

    1. FLASHES. Yes, the most gratifying scene was
when SAM found them, hiding in the back of
that truck. And, ANDY couldn't stop looking
at SAM, before she and Nick were driven
      away from the scene.

      Your best guess...ANDY & NICK...have they
been intimate? They WERE "undercover" for
      6 months. :)

    2. Really? 6 months? Hmmmm...I would have to guess no.

There were probably moments, but I think Andy was trying to maintain some sort of professionalism about it all. (Plus, she wasn't over Sam...)

      I am probably wrong.

  4. ...btw...I thought Andy was gonna fall out of her shirt when she was running around.

    Sheesh...a little low cut...

    :)

    What do I know?

    1. I didn't think she would...life just doesn't
      work out that way.

    2. What are you talking about??? Life ALWAYS works out that way! Wardrobe malfunctions left, right, and center.

Why, just today at recess, I gave a free show to the school as the breeze caught my dress!!! Hello Marilyn Monroe--not even close!!!

For the record, no one even noticed. The beauty of children!!! :)))))
