Sense memories. An actor's term, I believe. It refers to things we remember through the senses. Her perfume. The rough texture of a natural item that one may find washed up on shore, on a quiet beach. Sometimes, actors or writers will make some of these memories up -for a character...in order to make the character-this creation-seem more real.
And, linked to this "sense memory" is an emotion. One that the actor can recall at will -because, as a driver on a movie set once told me, "Time is money."

Officer Gail Peck shared a secret with a prisoner...the purpose was to do what ever was necessary, in order to get him to help find a kidnapped girl. He wanted to play TELL ME A SECRET, so that's what they did. He also wanted her to wear a slinky black dress, but this wish was not granted.:)
But, she did admit, that as a child, she killed her pet kitten, by accident. She was afraid that her brother might take it away from her, so she put it in a drawer, and slammed the drawer shut. But, the kitten lifted it's little head up, just before the drawer closed.
"So, you snapped its neck?" The very twisted con said.
"Yes." Gail answered.
Her anecdote was easily visualized. And reminded me of, what I understand to be, sense memories...
